Imbangi Produksi Aceh | Palas ‘Disetting’ Lumbung Ternak Sapi Sumut | OBROLANBISNIS.com — Sumatera Utara (Sumut) kekurangan produksi daging sapi. Bahkan selama ini untuk memenuhi kebutuhan, terpaksa dipasok dari Provinsi Aceh. Memang diketahui bahwa Aceh merupakan salah satu provinsi yang memiliki produksi sapi ternak. Agar tak lagi berharap dari provinsi lain, Gubernur Sumut Edy Rahmayadi meresmikan instalasi pembibitan ternak sapi potong di Desa Tanjung Beringin, Kecamatan Barumun Selatan, Kabupaten Padang Lawas (Palas), Selasa, 15 Juni 2021.
“Saat ini produksi daging sapi di Sumut berkisar 23 persen dari kebutuhan masyarakat Sumut. Kita (Sumut) kekurangan daging, untuk itu, kehadiran instalasi pembibitan ternak sapi potong ini diharapkan dapat menggenjot produksi daging sapi kita,” ujar Gubernur yang hadir bersama Ketua Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK) Provinsi Sumut Nawal Lubis.
Peresmian instalasi pembibitan ternak sapi yang memiliki kandang seluas 6 hektare (ha) dan mampu menampung 300 ekor sapi tersebut, ditandai dengan penandatanganan prasasti oleh Gubernur Sumut Edy Rahmayadi.
Instalasi ini juga memiliki lahan pengembangan rumput atau pakan ternak seluas 16 ha, yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pakan ternak sapi yang ada. Jenis sapi yang diternak baragam, mulai dari Brahman hingga Limosin. Begitu juga dengan jenis rumput yang ditanam. Mulai dari odot, kingres hingga pakcong.
Kabupaten Palas, kata Gubernur, sangat cocok sebagai lahan peternakan. Apalagi dahulu daerah ini juga pernah dijadikan sebagai wilayah ternak oleh pemerintah kolonial Belanda.
“Kalau kita belajar sejarah Riau, dulu daging itu datangnya dari sini (Palas), bahkan Aceh dari sini. Apalagi Tabagsel semua dari sini. Daerah ini (Palas) didesain oleh Belanda memang untuk pertanian dan ternak, ” kata Edy Rahmayadi.

Edy juga mengharapkan, agar daerah kabupaten/kota dapat mengembangkan wilayahnya masing-masing sesuai dengan potensinya. Jadi, pada kepala daerah harus memahami potensi wilayahnya masing-masing, sehingga dapat dikembangkan menjadi keunggulan daerah.
Kepala Seksi Pengembangan dan Produksi Unit Pelayanan Teknis (UPT) Pembibitan Ternak Unggas dan Sapi Sihitang, Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Peternakan Sumut Yunas mengakui selama ini Sumut kesulitan mendapatkan bibit sapi unggul. Sehingga bibit sapi terpaksa diambil dari luar Sumut.
Dikatakan, bahwa instalasi tersebut juga berfungsi sebagai tempat edukasi dan pelatihan bagi masyarakat yang ingin mempelajari pembibitan ternak sapi. Untuk itu, kata Yunas, pihaknya akan menggandeng kelompok peternak sapi guna memberdayakan masyarakat. Instalasi tersebut juga bisa menjadi tempat agrowisata.
“Kita menargetkan hasil dari bibit sapi di sini bisa kita sebar ke masyarakat, sehingga di masyarakat akan tersebar bibit sapi unggul yang lebih baik, kita juga menargetkan ini dapat menghasilkan PAD bagi Pemprov Sumut,” kata Yunas.
Wakil Bupati Padang Lawas Ahmad Zarnawi Pasaribu mengapresiasi pembangunan instalasi pembibitan ternak sapi potong di Palas. Menurutnya hal tersebut akan membuat Palas sebagai lumbung pangan ternak di kawasan Tapanuli Bagian Selatan (Tabagsel). ***

“Currently beef production in North Sumatra is around 23 percent of the needs of the people of North Sumatra. We (North Sumatra) lack meat, for that, the presence of this beef cattle breeding installation is expected to boost our beef production,” said the Governor who was present with the Chair of the Mobilization Team Empowerment and Family Welfare (TP PKK) of North Sumatra Province Nawal Lubis.
The inauguration of the cattle breeding installation, which has an area of 6 hectares (ha) and can accommodate 300 cows, was marked by the signing of an inscription by the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi.
This installation also has 16 ha of grass or animal feed development area, which is able to meet the existing cattle feed needs. Various types of cattle are bred, ranging from Brahman to Limousine. Likewise with the type of grass planted. Starting from odot, kingres to pakcong.

Head of the Development and Production Section of the Technical Service Unit (UPT) of Sihitang Poultry and Cattle Breeding, North Sumatra’s Food Security and Livestock Service, Yunas admits that North Sumatra has had difficulty getting superior cattle breeds. So that the cattle had to be taken from outside North Sumatra.
It is said that the installation also functions as a place for education and training for people who want to learn about cattle breeding. For that, Yunas said, his party will cooperate with a group of cattle breeders to empower the community. The installation can also be a place for agro-tourism.
“We are targeting that we can distribute the results from the cattle breeds here to the community, so that in the community there will be better superior cow breeds, we are also targeting this to generate PAD for the North Sumatra Provincial Government,” said Yunas.
Deputy Regent of Padang Lawas Ahmad Zarnawi Pasaribu appreciated the construction of a beef cattle breeding installation in Palas. According to him, this will make Palas a barn for livestock in the Southern Tapanuli (Tabagsel) area. ***
