PRSU Encourages Promotion of SME and Handicraft Products in 33 Regencies/Cities in North Sumatra | OBROLANBISNIS.com — The Deputy Governor (Vice Governor) of North Sumatra (Sumut) Musa Rajekshah visited several locations related to facilities and infrastructure to support the development of small and medium enterprises (UKM) of the Cooperatives and SMEs Service. His presence encourages the existence of the North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) to be turned on every day throughout the year.
This was conveyed by Deputy Governor Musa Rajekshah while visiting the Cooperative Training Center (Balatkop) and the UPT Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) at the PRSU location, Jalan Gatot Subroto Medan, Monday, July 5, 2021.
Also attending were the former North Sumatra Provincial Secretary R Sabrina, business actors, representing the Medan People’s Economic Empowerment Institute (LPER), and accompanied by the Head of the Cooperatives and SMEs Service Office, Suherman, along with his staff.
During the visit, the Deputy Governor saw several important things that could be done to advance the community’s economy through the development of SMEs.
In the building in front of the PRSU as the PLUT of the North Sumatra Cooperatives and SMEs Office, there are various booths containing handicraft products that are exhibited and sold at the same time. In addition, on the 2nd floor there is a hall which is partly used as a place of consultation by the agency, for business actors.
“This building is good, products from North Sumatra are presented, in the form of handicrafts. In appearance, good, but lacking a lot (amount and type). So if you have a lot, this can be a marketing place. So we want the government, through the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs to help with the marketing of SMEs and craftsmen,” said the Deputy Governor.
Likewise, the existence of PRSU, which consists of 33 booths or pavilions for each district/city, is still being used or opened during the one-month Pekan Raya momentum.
While 11 months away, almost not used at all. So according to the Deputy Governor, its existence can be used to develop SMEs in each existing pavilion.
“We see that there is a pavilion inside, we want it to be opened every day. So districts/cities can display SME and handicraft products from their respective regions there, with us working together. That way, guests from outside the province as well as abroad, can see various kinds of products from 33 regions in North Sumatra,” explained Musa Rajekshah.
Even though PRSU cannot be equated with Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) which displays various Indonesian cultures, it can at least provide an overview of the 33 districts/cities that exist. And focus on handicraft products and SMEs.
“Yes, our pavilion already reflects the characteristics of the area. It’s okay to look like that (TMII), but we focus on the SMEs. So, how can we turn this (pavilion) on,” said Ijeck, Musa Rajekshah’s nickname, regarding the existence of PRSU which had not been opened since the Covid-19 pandemic last year. ***
