Genjot Produksi Kentang di Sumut | Ini Pesan Edy Rahmayadi | OBROLANBISNIS.com — Gubernur Sumatera Utara (Sumut) Edy Rahmayadi terus berupaya meningkatkan produksi kentang di daerah ini. Antara lain dengan membantu dan mendorong pengembangan bibit kentang, serta mendatangkan investor.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Gubernur Edy Rahmayadi usai meninjau Pembibitan Kentang di Desa Bukit, Kecamatan Dolat Rakyat, Kabupaten Karo, Rabu, 28 Juli 2021. Selama ini, pasokan bibit kentang di Sumut dipenuhi oleh bibit yang berasal dari Pulau Jawa.
“Ini harus kita kembangkan, dengan begitu perekonomian daerah bisa meningkat, ” kata Gubernur.
Gubernur memuji pembibitan kentang di Desa Bukit tersebut. Menurutnya, hal ini bisa dicontoh oleh tempat lain yang melakukan pembibitan serupa. Selain itu, Gubernur juga menargetkan Sumut dapat memenuhi kebutuhan bibit kentang Pulau Sumatera.
Sehingga tidak perlu lagi memasok kebutuhan bibit dari Pulau Jawa. “Dengan ini, paling tidak kita bisa memenuhi kebutuhan satu Pulau Sumatera,” kata Gubernur yang hadir bersama Ketua TP PKK Sumut Nawal Lubis.
Edy Rahmayadi juga mengharapkan partisipasi dari Forkopimda Karo untuk meningkatkan produksi kentang. “Kami tidak bisa bekerja sendiri, perlu sinergi dari setiap pihak, ini untuk kesejahteraan rakyat juga, ” katanya.
Bupati Karo Cory S Sebayang menyampaikan selama ini bibit kentang yang ditanam di Sumut kebanyakan diambil dari Pulau Jawa. Pembibitan kentang di Desa Bukit, Kecamatan Dolat Rakyat tersebut menggunakan metode bertingkat.
“Metode bertingkat ini membuat kentang bisa berbuah di atas dan di bawah, sehingga bibit yang dihasilkan bisa meningkat hingga 15 ton, ” katanya.

The governor praised the potato nursery in Bukit Village. According to him, this can be imitated by other places that do similar nurseries. In addition, the Governor also targets that North Sumatra can meet the needs of potato seeds on the island of Sumatra.

Karo Regent Cory S Sebayang said that so far the potato seeds planted in North Sumatra were mostly taken from the island of Java. The potato nursery in Bukit Village, Dolat Rakyat District uses the stratified method.
“This stratified method allows potatoes to bear fruit above and below, so that the resulting seedling can increase to 15 tons,” he said.
