Fasilitas ini sebagai kategori bagasi tercatat atau terdaftar (checked baggage), yaitu barang bawaan penumpang yang diserahkan dan dilaporkan melalui petugas di meja pelaporan terminal keberangkatan bandar udara (check-in counter) setelah ditimbang dan dibawa ke ruang bagasi atau kompartemen kargo pesawat udara.

Calon penumpang, kata dia, masih diperbolehkan membawa bagasi kabin maksimal 7 Kg per orang. Layanan bagasi tercatat “Gratis Bagasi 20 Kg” merupakan program baru Lion Air yang dijalankan sebagai bagian dari upaya Kampanye terbang itu “sehat, aman dan menyenangkan”. Lalu, Momentum Agustus: Semarak 76 Tahun Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia serta memperingati hari Kebangkitan Teknologi Nasional, bahwa pesawat udara sebagai salah satu bagian trransportasi berteknologi canggih, salah satunya HEPA Filter (lihat penjelasan di halaman berikutnya).
Kemudian, menawarkan kemudahan wisatawan dan pebisnis dalam mempersiapkan rencana penerbangan, meningkatkan minat bepergian menggunakan pesawat udara dan mengakomodir permintaan pasar domestik dari calon penumpang dan pelanggan setia.

Ketentuan pelaksanaan “Gratis Bagasi 20 Kg” yakni, Khusus calon penumpang yang mempunyai tiket Lion Air (Periode pemesanan mulai 01 Agustus 2021 sampai pemberitahuan lebih lanjut dan Periode penerbangan mulai 03 Agustus 2021 sampai pemberitahuan lebih lanjut).
Proses mendapatkan bagasi gratis 20 Kg, bersamaan ketika melakukan pembelian atau pemesanan tiket (issued ticket) mulai 01 Agustus 2021 sampai pemberitahuan lebih lanjut, seperti secara online (www.lionair.co.id, online travel agent dan call center), secara offline (ke kantor penjualan Lion Air, kantor agen mitra perjalanan dan lainnya).
“Demi kenyamanan penumpang, petugas check-in akan menimbang bagasi di check-in counter guna menentukan apakah bagasi memenuhi persyaratan ini. Apabila melebihi 20 Kg, maka membayar biaya tambahan agar bagasi dapat diangkut sebagai bagasi terdaftar,” ungkap Danang.
Bagi bayi yang tidak berhak atas kursi, kereta bayi lipat atau kursi dorong yang bisa dilipat, atau keranjang bayi atau kursi mobil dapat didaftarkan sebagai bagasi atau diterima sebagai bagasi kabin penumpang, tergantung ukuran, dimensi serta ketersediaan ruang.
