Successfully Controlled Inflation | North Sumatra Wins TPID Award Five Times | OBROLANBISNIS.com — The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) through the Provincial Inflation Control Team (TPID) succeeded in controlling inflation throughout 2020. Therefore, the TPID of North Sumatra again won the TPID Award 2020 at the 2021 National Coordination Meeting for Inflation Control .

The 2020 TPID Award complements the similar award that has been received by the North Sumatra TPID before. To date, North Sumatra has received at least five TPID Awards, namely 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2020.

“The TPID Award is also proof that the North Sumatra Provincial Government is serious in controlling inflation in the region,” said North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi, Thursday (25/8), in his office, regarding the 2020 TPID Award that North Sumatra had just received.

According to the Governor, this success is inseparable from good coordination between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and various other relevant parties, including Bank Indonesia (BI), Bulog, and Regency/City Governments throughout North Sumatra. “This is expected to be maintained and even improved in the future,” he said.

He also conveyed that efforts to control inflation are very important in maintaining economic growth, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. A low and stable inflation rate is a prerequisite for sustainable economic growth, which ultimately provides benefits for improving people’s welfare.

For this reason, he explained, the North Sumatra TPID has consistently made various efforts, including maintaining price stability and people’s purchasing power. This is important in efforts to accelerate economic recovery at the local and national level.

In addition, said Edy Rahmayadi, North Sumatra’s TPID also continues to strengthen the logistics system at the provincial level. Then, coordinate with the Central Inflation Control Team and Regency/City TPID. “Also taking other steps in order to resolve obstacles and problems controlling inflation in North Sumatra,” he explained.

Separately, the Chairman of the North Sumatra Research and Innovation Council (DRIN) Darma Bakti appreciated the success of the North Sumatran Governor in controlling inflation in this area. According to him, one of the driving forces of the economy that strengthens inflation control in North Sumatra is the refocusing program of the APBD, which directly touches the community, such as student tuition assistance and assistance for basic needs.

“So that way, the decrease in people’s income can at least be helped,” said Darma Bakti.

Then, he said, the governor also tried his best to encourage the realization of the North Sumatra and district/city APBD with maximum budget absorption, thus helping the circulation of money through government spending. “It also strengthens inflation control in North Sumatra,” he said. ***
