Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul Diharap Cetak SDM Unggul dan Mandiri | OBROLANBISNIS.com – Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) Mahkota Tricom Unggul resmi berubah status menjadi Universitas. Perubahan status tersebut setelah mendapat restu dan izin dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi pada Juni 2021 lalu.
Secara resmi Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul (MTU) dikenalkan bagi masyarakat Kota Medan, Kamis, 21 Oktober 2021, dalam Grand Launching Universitas MTU yang berlangsung di Hotel Karibia Boutique Medan.
Turut hadir mewakili Gubernur Sumut, mewakili Walikota Medan, Sekretaris LIKDIKTI Wilayah I Dr Mahriyuni MHum, Ketua Pembina Yayasan Mahkota Tricom Unggul Dr Martono Anggusti, Ketua Yayasan Usli Sasri, perwakilan APINDO Sumut dan civitas Universitas MTU.
Sekretaris LIKDIKTI Wilayah I Dr Mahriyuni MHum mengatakan, Kota Medan harus berbangga dengan hadirnya Universitas MTU, yang berupaya mengembangkan mutu pendidikan di Sumatera Utara (Sumut).
Disebutkan Mahriyuni, proses perubahan status dari STIE menjadi Universitas tidaklah mudah. Karena semuanya harus melewati mekanisme sesuai aturan yang berlaku dalam Pemendikbud Riset dan Teknologi nomor 7 tahun 2020.
“Mekanismenya sangat ketat, mulai dari usulan legalitas formal pendirian dan juga usulan program studi (prodi). Semuanya berhasil melalui evaluasi oleh kementerian,” ungkapnya.
Mahriyuni mengucapkan terimakasih kepada Yayasan Mahkota Tricom Unggul yang telah membantu pemerintah dalam memajukan dan peningkatan mutu pendidikan di Sumut terkhususnya Indonesia.
Ia berharap, kehadiran Universitas MTU dapat mencetak Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) yang unggul dan berdaya saing di masa mendatang.

Sebelumnya, Rektor Universitas MTU, Prof Zulkarnain Lubis menyatakan, sejarah berdirinya hingga Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul sangat panjang sejak tahun 1997 berdiri.
“Berbagai status perubahan telah dilakukan hingga akhirnya berganti nama Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul. Alhamdulillah, telah mendapatkan izin resmi berdirinya Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul,” sebut Prof Zulkarnain Lubis.
Ada 4 program studi (prodi) terbaru Universitas MTU, yakni S1 Teknik Informatika; S1 Sistem Informasi; S1 Agrobisnis; dan S1 Bisnis Digital.
Gerak cepat pun dilakukan Universitas MTU dengan melakukan pendaftaran mahasiswa baru tahun ajaran 2021 – 2022. Selain itu melakukan perubahan dalam struktur management hingga visi dan misi perguruan.

Ketua Yayasan Mahkota Tricom Unggul, Usli Sasri menambahkan, momen ini adalah tonggak sejarah baru bagi Universitas MTU yang telah menjalani jatuh bangun di dunia pendidikan.
Menurut Usli, tantangan ke depan dihadapi bagaimana membuat Universitas MTU menjadi universitas maju, unggul dan BEST WAY seiring dengan mengikuti perubahan dunia yang begitu cepat.
