Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, mata uang kripto atau cryptocurrency mengalami peningkatan popularitas di Indonesia. Hal serupa pun terjadi di pasar internasional.
Di Indonesia, berdasarkan data Kementerian Perdagangan (Kemendag), hingga akhir Mei 2021, jumlah investor aset cryptocurrency atau uang kripto adalah mencapai 6,5 juta orang. Jumlah tersebut meningkat lebih dari 50 persen bila dibandingkan dengan tahun 2020 yang sebanyak 4 juta orang.
Mata uang kripto adalah aset digital yang dirancang untuk bekerja sebagai media pertukaran yang menggunakan kriptografi yang kuat untuk mengamankan transaksi keuangan, mengontrol penciptaan unit tambahan, dan memverifikasi transfer aset.

Kripto Diharamkan
Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) secara resmi mengharamkan penggunaan uang kripto atau cryptocurrency sebagai mata uang. Fatwa hukum uang kripto adalah disahkan dalam Forum Ijtima Ulama se-Indonesia ke-VII.
Sebagai konsekuensinya, menurut MUI, uang kripto adalah juga tidak sah diperdagangkan. Mata uang kripto adalah dinilai mengandung gharar, dharar, dan bertentangan dengan Undang-Undang (UU) nomor 7 tahun 2011 dan Peraturan Bank Indonesia nomor 17 tahun 2015.
“Terkait hukum cryptocurrency dari musyawarah yang sudah ditetapkan ada tiga diktum hukum. Penggunaan cryptocurrency sebagai mata uang hukumnya haram,” ujar Ketua MUI Bidang Fatwa KH Asrorun Niam Sholeh, dikutip dari Tribunnews.
MUI punya alasan sendiri dalam mengharamkan uang kripto. Salah satunya karena mata uang kripto adalah bersifar gharar yang memiliki sesuatu yang tidak pasti. “Karena mengandung gharar, dharar dan bertentangan dengan Undang-Undang nomor 7 tahun 2011 dan Peraturan Bank Indonesia nomor 17 tahun 2015,” terang Asrorun.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) officially forbids the use of cryptocurrencies or cryptocurrencies as currency. The legal fatwa for crypto money was ratified at the VII Ijtima Ulama Forum in Indonesia.
