Anugerah Dewan Pers 2021 ini diselenggarakan dalam rangka memberikan apresiasi kepada wartawan, media massa, perorangan dan lembaga yang berkontribusi dalam mewujudkan kemerdekaaan pers di Indonesia.
Malam puncak pengumuman Anugerah Dewan Pers 2021 dihadiri Ketua Dewan Pers Mohammad Nuh, Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika Johnny G. Plate yang diwakili staf ahli Kominfo Niken Widiastuti, Gubernur Jawa Barat Ridwan Kamil, Gubernur Kepulauan Riau Ansar Ahmad, Wakil Ketua Mahkamah Agung Bidang Yudisial Andi Samsan Nganro, dan Ketua Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia Agung Suprio. Hadir pula para anggota Dewan Pers, tokoh senior pers dan Ketua organisasi dan asosiasi pers.
“Penghargaan Anugerah Dewan Pers yang digelar untuk pertama kali ini, kami persembahkan untuk publik; dan kami berkomitmen untuk terus mengambil bagian dalam menjaga kemerdekaan pers serta menyajikan konten jurnalistik yang berkualitas, independen dan terpercaya,” kata Editor In Chief KabarMedan.com, Agoez Perdana, ketika menerima langsung penyerahan penghargaan tersebut.

Agoez Perdana yang juga Ketua Asosiasi Media Siber Indonesia (AMSI) Wilayah Sumatera Utara menyampaikan ucapan terima kasih setinggi-tingginya atas dukungan semua pihak, mulai dari proses pengusulan oleh konstituen Dewan Pers hingga masuk nominasi, masukan oleh publik, hingga akhirnya meraih penghargaan.
Proses penyelenggaraan Anugerah Dewan Pers ini dimulai dengan konsultasi kepada Konstituen Dewan Pers dan Masyarakat Pers untuk merumuskan tujuan, kriteria dan kategori Anugerah Dewan Pers.
Bahkan, proses pengajuan nominee Anugerah Dewan Pers disampaikan oleh konstituen Dewan Pers. Dari proses ini terdapat 117 media dengan ratusan karya jurnalistik, 45 wartawan, 13 lembaga dan 20 tokoh. Akhirnya dewan juri mengajukan 41 nominee dari kategori media cetak, televisi, radio dan siber serta perorangan dan lembaga.
Sebanyak 41 nominee ini terjaring dari penilaian juri utama yang terdiri dari Ketua Dewan Pers Mohammad Nuh, Ketua Umum PWI Atal S. Depari, Ketua Dewan Pers 2016-2019 Yosep Adi Prasetyo, wartawan senior Bambang Harymurti dan Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran Dadang Rahmat Hidayat.
Sedangkan juri penyisihan adalah anggota Dewan Pers yaitu Hendry Ch. Bangun, Ahmad Djauhar, Jamalul Insan dan Asep Setiawan. Untuk setiap peraih penghargaan Dewan Pers memberikan trofi khusus yang didesain oleh seniman Dolorosa Sinaga. ***

The 2021 Press Council Award is held in order to give appreciation to journalists, mass media, individuals and institutions that contribute to realizing press freedom in Indonesia.
The peak night of the announcement of the 2021 Press Council Award was attended by the Chairman of the Press Council Mohammad Nuh, the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate represented by Kominfo expert staff Niken Widiastuti, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs Andi Samsan Nganro, and Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission Agung Suprio. Also present were members of the Press Council, senior press figures and heads of press organizations and associations.

Agoez Perdana who is also the Chairman of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI) for the North Sumatra Region expressed his deepest gratitude for the support of all parties, starting from the nomination process by the Press Council constituents to being nominated, input by the public, and finally winning the award.
The process of organizing the Press Council Award begins with consultation with the Press Council Constituents and the Press Society to formulate the objectives, criteria and categories of the Press Council Award.
In fact, the process of submitting the nominees for the Press Council Award was submitted by the constituents of the Press Council. From this process, there were 117 media with hundreds of journalistic works, 45 journalists, 13 institutions and 20 figures. Finally, the jury proposed 41 nominees from the categories of print media, television, radio and cyber as well as individuals and institutions.
A total of 41 nominees were selected from the assessment of the main jury consisting of the Chairman of the Press Council, Mohammad Nuh, the General Chair of PWI Atal S. Depari, the Chairman of the 2016-2019 Press Council, Yosep Adi Prasetyo, senior journalist Bambang Harymurti and the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University Dadang Rahmat Hidayat.
While the preliminary jury is a member of the Press Council, namely Hendry Ch. Bangun, Ahmad Djauhar, Jamalul Insan and Asep Setiawan. For each award winner, the Press Council presents a special trophy designed by artist Dolorosa Sinaga. ***
