Assets of Dutch Pawnshops on Tello Island Saved | North Sumatra BPN Submits its Certificate |
OBROLANBISNIS.com — The National Land Agency (BPN) of North Sumatra Province (North Sumatra) handed over a Certificate of Building Use Rights (Hak Guna Bangunan) assets belonging to PT Pegadaian on Tello Island, South Nias Regency (Nisel).

The handover was carried out by the Head of the North Sumatra BPN Regional Office, Dadang Suhendi, to the Head of PT Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan, Edwin S. Inkiriwang, Thursday (23/12).

Also present were SVP of the General Directorate of PT Pegadaian, Marshall Aritonang; Kakantah BPN Nisel, Daniel S. Sagala; Head of the Logistics Department of PT Pegadaian Kanwil I Medan, Rusydi Tanjung; Head of the Ministry of Finance Basaria P. Manurung; Head of Public Relations and Protocol Gopher Manurung.

The head of PT Pegadaian Kanwil I Medan, Edwin S. Inkiriwang, thanked BPN for the assistance in completing the certificate of assets belonging to Pegadaian on Tello Island.

“Assets in the form of land and buildings on Tello Island have been owned by Pegadaian since 1928 during the Dutch era. The Pegadaian Board of Directors instructed all assets owned by Pegadaian in the North Sumatra – Aceh region to be certified to the BPN,” said Edwin.

According to Edwin, this is the first step for Pegadaian Medan to save all existing assets. “There are still several Pegadaian asset certification activities in North Sumatra – Aceh that will be carried out. For example in Dolok Masihol District, Serdangbedagai Regency, Pegadaian assets were handed over to the Dutch East Indies government to Pegadaian at that time,” he explained.

Speaking of history, said Edwin, Pegadaian has been established since 1901 before Indonesia was proclaimed its independence. “There are still many more Pegadaian assets in the North Sumatra – Aceh area that we will save in the future. Therefore, BPN assistance is needed as a regulator in the land sector to help Pegadaian certify its assets,” asked Edwin.

Edwin emphasized that in solving Pegadaian’s asset problems, his party prioritized the family way. “We don’t want the issue of assets to go into the realm of law, if we can take family steps,” said the Manado-blooded man.

Meanwhile, SVP of the General Directorate of Pawnshops, Marshall Aritonang added, the submission of certificates of assets belonging to Pegadaian was the result of collaboration between the Ministry of ATR/BPN and Pegadaian in 2018, in the fields of land information, land registration and settlement of land problems.

Marshall Aritonang said that PT Pegadaian as a state-owned group inherited from the Netherlands inherited thousands of land assets spread throughout Indonesia. “The total land assets owned by Pegadaian throughout Indonesia are 1,171 locations,” explained Marshall Aritonang.

Of the 1,171 locations, there were 1,122 SHGB certificates; Right to Use as many as 6 locations (1 location is in Aceh); Strata Title (certificate of ownership of flat units, namely Pegadaian outlets with Malls/Apartments in Jakarta) as many as 2 locations. “And the remaining 41 locations have not been certified,” he said.

Marshall Aritonang explained, for the North Sumatra region, there are 3 locations of land assets that have not been certified, due to a dispute over tenure (dual records with government agencies).

The three locations are in Padangsidimpuan with an area of 1,093 meters; Teluk Dalam covering an area of 870 meters; Telo Island is 1,450 meters wide. “And today on Tello Island there is a bright spot for the solution,” he said.

The head of BPN Nisel, Daniel Sagala, said that the problem with Pegadaian’s assets on Tello Island had been resolved. “People who previously controlled land assets admitted that they belonged to Pegadaian, making it easier for BPN to settle,” he said.

Head of BPN Medan Regional Office, Dadang Suhedi, advised PT Pegadaian Kanwil I Medan to protect the company’s assets after being certified. “This land is like a wife, who must be guarded and supervised by her husband, who in this case is Pegadaian as the owner of the assets,” Dadang said. ***
