Threats of the Minister of Trade: Strict Actions on Hoarding Perpetrators | OBROLANBISNIS.com — The Minister of Trade (Mendag), Muhammad Lutfi threatened to take firm action against the perpetrators of hoarding cooking oil (migor).
The Ministry of Trade in collaboration with law enforcement officials will apply strict sanctions, thereby creating a deterrent effect.
“Under conditions such as the current stockpiling of migraines, the people suffer greatly. Therefore, the perpetrators must receive harsh and severe legal sanctions,” said Trade Minister Lutfi while chairing a coordination meeting for the distribution of migraines in Medan, North Sumatra, today, Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Previously, to ensure stock and smooth distribution of migrants and other basic necessities, Trade Minister Lutfi also led coordination meetings in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Padang, West Sumatra and Jambi.
Also present at the coordination meeting were the Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, the Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade Oke Nurwan, the Director General for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana, the head of the agency in charge of trade in regencies and cities in North Sumatra, as well as representatives of migrant businesses.
“The Ministry of Trade will coordinate with law enforcement officials to oversee the distribution of migrants in North Sumatra. The supply of migrants in North Sumatra is abundant but the situation is not suitable in the market. To that end, the Ministry of Trade will involve law enforcement officers to take firm action against hoarders, both from producers and retailers,” explained Trade Minister Lutfi.
According to the Minister of Trade Lutfi, the supply of migrants in North Sumatra is abundant with the amount of around 33 million liters in the last ten days. “This shows that there is no reason why migraines are rare in North Sumatra. For this reason, the North Sumatran government, all heads of district and city offices, and business actors are requested for cooperation. We want to put forward a good market mechanism so that at the first opportunity things will return to normal because the Ministry of Trade guarantees an abundant supply,” he said.
Meanwhile, Governor Edy said that the North Sumatran government and the Ministry of Trade had coordinated to overcome the problem of migraine distribution. “Actually, the supply of migrants is sufficient. Furthermore, we will coordinate with district/city service heads and business actors, so that migration prices return to normal,” he said.
Earlier on the same day, the Trade Minister Lutfi also visited the Central Market in Medan City to review the prices and supply of migrants. In this market, the supply of migrants is sufficient despite distribution problems.
“In North Sumatra, the supply of migrants is in surplus and more than other regions in Indonesia. For this reason, it is hoped that the North Sumatran Government will cooperate so that the distribution of migrants can be streamlined so that prices are in line with government regulations,” said Trade Minister Lutfi. ***
