3 Alasan Mendag Lutfi Undang Para Menteri Ekonomi ASEAN ke Bali | OBROLANBISNIS.com — Menteri-menteri ekonomi ASEAN, yang baru kembali dari Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi (KTT) ASEAN–Amerika Serikat (AS), pekan lalu, memastikan akan memenuhi undangan untuk menghadiri Pertemuan Khusus Para Menteri Ekonomi ASEAN atau ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Special Meeting (AEM Special Meeting) tanggal 17–18 Mei 2022 di Bali.
Pertemuan ini disebut pertemuan khusus karena tidak dijadwalkan sebelumnya dalam agenda resmi ASEAN. Selain itu, pertemuan ini diinisiasi bukan oleh negara pimpinan ASEAN yang saat ini dipegang Kamboja, melainkan inisiatif Menteri Perdagangan RI Muhammad Lutfi.
“Dan tentunya khusus karena pertemuan ini adalah kali pertama para menteri ASEAN kembali bertemu secara fisik sejak diterapkannya protokol kesehatan Covid-19 dua setengah tahun silam,” kata Mendag Lutfi.
Mendag Lutfi menyampaikan, setidaknya ada tiga alasan strategis utama kenapa mengundang para menteri ekonomi ASEAN menghadiri Pertemuan Khusus Para Menteri Ekonomi ASEAN di Bali besok.
”Pertama, menurut Mendag, adalah kesuksesan ASEAN dalam KTT ASEAN–AS minggu lalu ketika Indonesia menjadi negara koordinator ASEAN. Keberhasilan KTT ASEAN–AS minggu lalu adalah momentum penting yang harus segera ditindaklanjuti dengan positif dan konkret.
“Kondisi perekonomian dunia saat ini sangat rapuh dan tidak pasti. ASEAN justru beruntung mengalami pertumbuhan ekonomi yang positif. Apalagi ASEAN sebagai satu komunitas adalah perekonomian ketujuh terbesar di dunia,” tambah Mendag Lutfi.

KTT ASEAN-AS minggu lalu ditutup dengan pernyataan bersama bahwa kerja sama ASEAN-AS akan ditingkatkan ke level kerja sama ekonomi yang komprehensif untuk ditandatangani pada pertemuan lanjutan di bulan November tahun ini.
Mendag Lutfi menyampaikan alasan kedua yang menjadikan AEM Special Meeting di Bali ini sangat penting. Menurut Mendag Lutfi, AEM Special Meeting di Bali akan memprioritaskan bagaimana sepuluh negara anggota ASEAN bisa lebih menyatu lagi dalam melindungi pertumbuhan ekonomi ASEAN, sambil meningkatkan integrasi dan kontribusi ASEAN terhadap perekonomian dunia.
“Perekonomian dunia saat ini butuh kisah sukses dan teladan baru, khususnya dalam hal kolaborasi antarnegara untuk mendorong pembangunan ekonomi yang inklusif dan berorientasi manusia. ASEAN semakin relevan hari ini dan di masa depan bukan untuk menjadi kekuatan ekonomi pesaing baru bagi kekuatan ekonomi besar yang sudah ada seperti AS, Tiongkok, Uni Eropa, dan India. Sebaliknya justru sebagai kekuatan baru yang inklusif dan mampu menjembatani kekuatan-kekuatan ekonomi dunia. Itulah kelebihan dan warna ASEAN,” tambah Mendag Lutfi.
Alasan ketiga, menurut Mendag Lutfi, lebih simbolis namun tidak kalah strategis. Yaitu untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada masyarakat ASEAN dan dunia bahwa perekonomian ASEAN mulai mengalami normalisasi dan mulai bangkit dari krisis yang disebabkan pandemi Covid-19.
Mendag Lutfi membenarkan bahwa pemilihan Bali sebagai tuan rumah AEM Special Meeting ditujukan untuk menyampaikan pesan positif, memberikan bukti nyata, sekaligus membangun semangat kebangkitan kepada masyarakat untuk segera menormalisasi aktivitas perekonomian.

Dengan sepakat dan siapnya para menteri ekonomi ASEAN untuk bertemu kembali secara fisik sejak diberlakukannya protokol kesehatan Covid-19, di Bali, Mendag Lutfi bermaksud menyatukan ASEAN dalam satu pesan penting.
“Ketika para pemimpin perekonomian ASEAN sudah bertemu secara fisik sambil menikmati kecantikan Bali, berarti masyarakat bisa kembali bekerja, kembali berkarya, bahkan kembali berwisata di seluruh ASEAN yang punya banyak situs wisata kelas dunia. Intinya, masyarakat yakin bahwa perekonomian ASEAN sudah pulih dan mulai normal,” kata Mendag Lutfi.
Mendag Lutfi juga mengajak untuk bersama-sama memulihkan perekonomian ASEAN dari wabah ketakutan yang meyakini bahwa arus barang, jasa, dan orang adalah sumber penyebaran penyakit dan pandemi.
Pasca-AEM Special Meeting, para pemimpin dunia yang sedang bertikai diharapkan sadar bahwa selama persatuan dan perdamaian dijaga, maka kemakmuran dan kerukunan bersama akan tercipta.

3 Reasons for Trade Minister Lutfi to Invite ASEAN Economic Ministers to Bali | OBROLANBISNIS.com — ASEAN economic ministers, who just returned from the ASEAN–United States (US) Summit last week, confirmed that they would comply with the invitation to attend the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Special Meeting. Meeting (AEM Special Meeting) on 17-18 May 2022 in Bali.
This meeting is called a special meeting because it was not previously scheduled in the official ASEAN agenda. In addition, this meeting was not initiated by the ASEAN-led country which is currently held by Cambodia, but the initiative of the Indonesian Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi.
“And of course it is special because this meeting is the first time that ASEAN ministers have met physically since the implementation of the Covid-19 health protocol two and a half years ago,” said Trade Minister Lutfi.

“The current condition of the world economy is very fragile and uncertain. ASEAN is fortunate to experience positive economic growth. Moreover, ASEAN as a community is the seventh largest economy in the world,” added the Trade Minister Lutfi.
Last week’s ASEAN-US summit closed with a joint statement that ASEAN-US cooperation would be upgraded to the level of comprehensive economic cooperation to be signed at a follow-up meeting in November this year.
Trade Minister Lutfi conveyed the second reason why the AEM Special Meeting in Bali was very important. According to Trade Minister Lutfi, the AEM Special Meeting in Bali will prioritize how the ten ASEAN member countries can be more united in protecting ASEAN’s economic growth, while increasing ASEAN’s integration and contribution to the world economy.
“Today’s world economy needs success stories and new examples, especially in terms of collaboration between countries to promote inclusive and human-oriented economic development. ASEAN is increasingly relevant today and in the future not to become a new competitor economic power for the existing major economic powers such as the US, China, the European Union, and India. On the contrary, it is a new force that is inclusive and capable of bridging the world’s economic powers. That is the advantage and color of ASEAN,” added Trade Minister Lutfi.
The third reason, according to Trade Minister Lutfi, is more symbolic but no less strategic. That is to convey a message to the ASEAN community and the world that the ASEAN economy is starting to normalize and is starting to rise from the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Trade Minister Lutfi confirmed that the selection of Bali as the host of the AEM Special Meeting was aimed at conveying a positive message, providing tangible evidence, as well as building a spirit of revival for the community to immediately normalize economic activity.
With the agreement and readiness of ASEAN economic ministers to meet again physically since the implementation of the Covid-19 health protocol, in Bali, Trade Minister Lutfi intends to unite ASEAN in one important message.
“When ASEAN economic leaders have met physically while enjoying the beauty of Bali, it means that people can return to work, return to work, and even return to travel throughout ASEAN which has many world-class tourist sites. In essence, the people believe that the ASEAN economy has recovered and is starting to return to normal,” said Trade Minister Lutfi.
Trade Minister Lutfi also invited to jointly restore the ASEAN economy from the epidemic of fear, which believes that the flow of goods, services and people is the source of the spread of disease and pandemics.
