Pemilihan Pemuda Pelopor Tingkat Nasional 2022, terdapat 5 bidang kepeloporan yang dikompetisikan, yaitu: (1) pendidikan, (2) pangan, (3) inovasi teknologi, (4) pengelolaan sumber daya alam, lingkungan, dan pariwisata, dan (5) agama, sosial dan budaya.
Albert Masli memilih kepeloporan di bidang pendidikan, karena menurutnya pendidikan merupakan salah satu cara yang terbaik untuk mewujudkan sumber daya manusia yang unggul, berkarakter, berdaya saing dan nasionalis.
Albert Masli mengikuti program tersebut penuh dengan perjuangan dan melalui proses yang tidak singkat. Yang dimulai dari tingkat Kabupaten/Kota, Provinsi dan hingga ke Nasional.
Pada tanggal 12 Mei 2022, Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Medan menggelar kegiatan Seleksi dan Pembinaan Pemuda Pelopor Kota Medan Tahun 2022 di Hotel Putra Mulia.
Kegiatan tersebut diikuti oleh 35 orang dari 5 bidang. Selanjutnya, pada tanggal 13 Mei 2022, dewan juri dan tim fact finding dari Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Medan melakukan fact finding di lokasi peserta yang kepeloporan dianggap berpotensi.

Hasilnya, Albert Masli yang berdomisili di Kecamatan Medan Timur dan berkarya di Kecamatan Medan Tembung, terpilih menjadi Pemuda Pelopor Kota Medan Tahun 2022 dan menjadi utusan dari Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Kota Medan ke Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Sumatera Utara.
Pada tanggal 2 Juni 2022, Tim Fact Finding dari Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Sumatera Utara mengunjungi lokasi kepeloporan Albert Masli di Gedung Pusdiklat MABGI Sumut.
Albert Masli melakukan presentasi mengenai kepeloporannya, diwawancarai dan dilihat bukti-bukti kepeloporan di bidang pendidikan yang telah dikaryakan selama ini.
Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari Tim Fact Finding dari Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Pada tanggal 10 Juni 2022, 10 Pemuda/i terbaik yang memiliki kepeloporan yang berbeda-beda yang berasal dari berbagai Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Sumatera Utara, yaitu: Medan, Binjai, Langkat, Karo, Tapsel, Simalunggun, dan Samosir diundang mengikuti seleksi Pemuda Pelopor Provinsi Sumatera Utara Tahun 2022.
Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari Dewan Juri dan hasil rapat pleno pada tanggal 17 Juni 2022 , Albert Masli yang mewakili Kota Medan, terpilih menjadi salah satu dari 4 Pemuda Pelopor Provinsi Sumatera Utara yang akan diusulkan namanya menjadi calon Pemuda Pelopor Tingkat Nasional Tahun 2022 yang dilaksanakan oleh Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga Republik Indonesia.

Pada tanggal 25 Juli 2022. dalam rangka penilaian calon Pemuda Pelopor Tingkat Nasional Tahun 2022, Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga RepubIik Indonesia mengutus Tim Fact Finding, yaitu Bapak Emil Silalahi dan Bapak Amrullah, serta didampingi oleh pejabat dari Dispora Kota Medan dan Dispora Provinsi Sumatera Utara, yaitu Kepala Bidang Peningkatan Prestasi Olahraga Dispora Provinsi Sumatera Utara, M. Tohir, S.Pd; Kepala Bidang Layanan Pemuda Dispora Kota Medan, Irwan Karimuddin Pane, S.Sos., M.SP; Kepala Seksi Penyadaran Pemuda, Raikhana Syahbi, S.E; beserta tim lainnya melakukan Fact Finding terhadap kepeloporan Albert Masli pada bidang pendidikan di Gedung Pusdiklat MABGI Sumut.
Pada kesempatan tersebut, Albert Masli didampingi oleh Camat Medan Tembung, Ibu Vianti Dewi Nasution, S.Sos. dan Lurah Bantan Timur, Bapak Rachmad Fauzi Hasibuan, S.STP., M.A.P., dan Kepala Lingkungan, Rahmad Ritongga, serta sejumlah pengurus DPD MABGI Provinsi Sumatera Utara dan DPD WALUBI Provinsi Sumatera Utara.

Dari ratusan pemuda terbaik perwakilan dari seluruh provinsi di Indonesia yang telah dilakukan Fact Finding, hanya 60 Pemuda Pelopor yang diundang untuk mengikuti penjurian Pemuda Pelopor Tingkat Nasional Tahun 2022 pada tanggal 3 – 6 Oktober 2022 di Hotel Ciputra, Jakarta.
