“Alhamdulillah dengan menempuh 2.000 Km, penggunaan BBM-nya juga sangat hemat atau per liter bisa untuk menempuh jarak 33 km,” ujar salah satu tim riset ITB dan PT Kemurgi Indonesia, Muhammad Ferian di Medan, Kamis, 20 Oktober 2022.

Bensin sawit yang disingkat Bensa kini dikenalkan di Pekan Riset Sawit Indonesia (Perisai) melalui rangkaian acara Indonesian Palm Oil Stakehokders (IPOS) Forum di Hotel Santika, Medan 20-21 Oktober 2022.

Produksi Bensin Sawit merupakan hasil penelitian Lembaga Pengembangan Inovasi dan Kewirausahaan (LPIK) Institut Teknologi Bandung yang dibiayai Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (BPDPKS) dan PT Kemurgi Indonesia.

Menurut Muhammad Ferian, untuk menepis isu bahwa produk sawit merusak, dia juga menggunakan berkala BBM jenis pertalite di perjalanannya dan nyatanya mesin kenderaan tetap bagus.

“Alhamdulillah dalam perjalanan, sepeda motor dengan Bensin Sawit dan juga dicampur BBM lainnya itu tidak mengalami masalah apa pun,” ujar Muhammad Ferian di Medan.

Dengan tidak adanya masalah menggunakan BBM campuran, maka sudah jelas bensin sawit itu bisa digunakan 100 persen.

Dia menegaskan, bensin berbahan baku dari sawit itu memang sama seperti bensin dari minyak bumi.

Prof. DR. Subagjo, peneliti dari ITB menegaskan, Bensin Sawit telah diproduksi sebanyak 1.000 liter dan diharapkan bisa dikembangkan lagi ke depan, karena Indonesia memiliki perkebunan sawit yang cukup luas.

 

 


“Awalnya kami berhasil memproduksi 250 ml per jam, kemudian 10 liter per hari, dan sekarang sudah memproduksi sebanyak 1.000 liter,” katanya.

Ia mengakui, untuk pengembangan skala besar hingga komersial, masih terus memerlukan dukungan kuat. Syukur, ujar Subagjo, BPDPKS, menyatakan kesiapan untuk terus mendukung.

“Kami berharap, pada 2024, produksi bensin sawit sudah bisa dikembangkan lebih besar atau dikomersialkan,” ujar Subagjo.

Direktur Utama BPDPKS, Eddy Abdurrachman mengatakan, Bensin Sawit merupakan wujud kerjasama BPDPKS dengan peneliti.

“BPDPKS terus berkontribusi untuk terus meningkatkan kontribusi untuk melakukan penelitian tentang sawit,” katanya.

Upaya untuk penerapan teknologi yang dapat mengolah hasil kebun sawit rakyat menjadi bahan baku bensin biohidrokarbon itu sekaligus menjalankan amanat Peraturan Presiden Nomor 109 tahun 2020.
