Revealed in North Sumatra: 75 Tons of ‘Our Oil’ Stockpiled | OBROLANBISNIS.com — The North Sumatra Food Task Force (Satgas) team found 75 tons of ‘Our Oil’ cooking oil which was allegedly not distributed or stockpiled in a distributor’s warehouse.

As many as 75 tonnes of ‘Our Oil’ have been produced since November 2022, but as of February 2023 it has not yet been circulated to the public.

The findings of the 75 tons or 7,000 boxes of cooking oil were found by the Food Task Force Team consisting of the North Sumatra Energy Trade and Mineral Resources Industry Office, the Economic Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of North Sumatra Province, Bank Indonesia Representative for North Sumatra, and the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), during an inspection to PT YAN’s warehouse.

According to the Head of the Bureau for the Economy of the Regional Secretariat of North Sumatra Province Naslindo Sirait, these findings reinforce allegations of a shortage of Oil Kita branded cooking oil in North Sumatra.

Oil Kita is government subsidized cooking oil. The scarcity of government-assigned cooking oil has caused inflation to rise in North Sumatra.

“In February, we had inflation due to cooking oil. There was only one producer or distributor. Our cooking oil needs are 13,000 tons,” said Naslindo, during a press conference at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office, Jalan Diponegoro, Monday, February 13, 2023.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) through Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS) of the North Sumatra Energy and Mineral Resources Trade Industry Office and the Business Competition Supervision Commission (KPPU) will follow up on these findings in accordance with statutory provisions.

“Sanctions should be, yes, so that law enforcement is important in our opinion, law enforcement must be carried out, so that there is legal certainty,” said Naslindo.

Naslindo asks distributors or producers to carry out trading activities in accordance with applicable regulations. “There should be no attempt to hold back for the sake of momentary gain so that people cannot get subsidized cooking oil. This should not happen in North Sumatra because we are a cooking oil barn,” he said.

North Sumatra Provincial Government will continue to monitor the distribution of cooking oil. Naslindo revealed that currently the Food Task Force oversees around 16 cooking oil producers and 30 distributors in North Sumatra.

“We have to ensure that the cooking oil is distributed to the public, we will take action according to applicable regulations if irregularities are found,” said Naslindo. ***
