On that occasion, the only woman who was DPD RI candidate number 4 for the North Sumatra electoral district in the 2024 elections appreciated that the corn harvest in Medan City was capable of reaching 8 tons.

The youngest doctor of economics and business at the University of Indonesia (UI) in 2013 also hopes that the corn harvest will have an impact on increasing national production.

“In the future, Indonesia is expected to be able to restore the situation by stopping imports and re-exporting corn,” hoped the Executive Director of the Center for Political Economic and Social Studies of North Sumatra.

Previously, the Minister of Agriculture said he was happy because he could harvest corn during the corn planting and harvesting movement in the capital of North Sumatra Province.

Amran also felt proud because he could see an extraordinary harvest of 8 tons.

“Today, we saw an extraordinary harvest, because I asked earlier the production was approximately 8 tons, this is extraordinary. Three months old corn is now starting to be harvested, hopefully we can stop imports,” said the Minister of Agriculture.

The Minister of Agriculture further said that corn is a very strategic food crop commodity and has the potential to improve farmers’ welfare. Apart from a very open market share, with fairly easy cultivation, currently the price of corn is very stable and even tends to be high.

Apart from harvesting, Dr Badikenita Sitepu also planted corn with the Minister of Agriculture.

The harvest location is on land cultivated by the Development Farmers Group, with a corn planting/harvesting area of approximately 10 hectares with a Planting Index (IP) three times a year. ***
