Ketua Perkumpulan Teochew Bersatu Medan, Dr. Agus Susanto Tan mengatakan, aksi sosial tersebut dilaksanakan dalam rangka menyambut perayaan Idul Fitri 1445 Hijriah.

“Setiap ada kegiatan hari keagamaan, kita memang ada sedikit berbagi kasih dengan sesama. Bertepatan dengan perayakan lebaran, kami berbagi rejeki berupa paket sembako bagi masyarakat berekonomi pas-pasan,” kata Dr. Agus Susanto Tan.
Dijelaskannya, pada kegiatan bantuan sosial kali ini, pihaknya terlebih dahulu membagikan kupon kepada masyarakat. Yang mana kemudian kupon tersebut bisa ditukarkan menjadi paket sembako yang sudah disediakan di gedung Yayasan Tio Ciu Sumut
“Jadi sistemnya itu kita buat kupon. Sasaran kita adalah masyarakat dari kaum pra sejahtera dari berbagai kalangan, seperti tukang becak dan pemungut sampah. Yah, pokoknya kami pikir yang lebih membutuhkan yang akan kami berikan kupon,” jelasnya.
Agus juga mengatakan, kedepannya pihaknya akan terus melanjutkan kegiatan positif tersebut. Aksi sosial ini diharap dapat meringankan sedikit beban yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat yang kurang mampu.

“Setiap kegiatan keagamaan akan kita lakukan pembagian paket sembako. Selain itu, juga kita sering melakukan kegiatan lainnya, seperti bedah rumah. Nah tentunya kami akan terus menggandeng teman-teman dari Lions Club, supaya kebersamaan ini bisa dirasakan oleh masyarakat,” tuturnya.
Ia berharap, melalui kegiatan berbagi kasih ini pihaknya dapat terus membantu masyarakat, meskipun nilainya yang tidak terlalu besar.
“Kita berharap melalui berbagi kasih ini masyarakat pra sejahtera terkhusus yang akan berlebaran bisa terbantu meski tidak seberapa besar. Tapi itu dari keikhlasan hati kami untuk saling berbagi. Mudah-mudahan yang kami berikan itu bisa membantu lah,” pungkasnya.
Perkumpulan Teochew Bersatu Medan Lions Club Medan Alumni Husni Thamrin, dan Lions Club Medan Liberty juga tidak hanya sekedar membagikan sembako kepada masyarakat, juga melakukan aksi kemanusiaan donor darah.

Pada kegiatan donor darah tersebut terkumpulkan 103 orang pendonor yang hadir. “Hanya saja dari 103 orang tersebut, bisa menghasilkan 72 kantong darah. Hal itu disebabkan 31 pendonor gagal memenuhi syarat,” bener Dr Agus Susanto Tan.
