Dalam hal ini, program PSR menjadi proyek andalan pemerintah dalam mendorong peningkatan kualitas sekaligus tingkat produksi sawit rakyat yang masih jauh di bawah kinerja perkebunan perusahaan dengan tingkat produksi masih sekitar 40%.
Dirjen Perkebunan Kementerian Pertanian, Heru Triwidarto mengatakan, program PSR bisa membantu meningkatkan kesejhateraan petani melalui peningkatan kualitas panen sawit dan meningkatan produktifitas sawit rakyat yang porsinya mencapai 40% dari luas perkebunan sawit di Indonesia yang mencapai 15,34 ha.
“Pemerintah mendorong perusahaan besar, perusahaan negara dan pekebun rakyat bersama-sama meningatkan produksi untuk mendukung swasembada energy dan swasembada pangan. Ada peluang bagi pelaku perkebunan kelapa sawit. Untuk proyek energi naik jadi B-50 saja kita butuh tambahan minyak sawit 6,6 juta ton, kalau melakukan ekstensifikasi butuh 2,3 juta hectare lahan baru untuk perkebunan,” ujar Heru via zoom dalam acara Spotlight of Indonesia Palm Oil Issues (SIOP) 2024 di Medan, Rabu, 13 November 2023.
Acara yang diinisiasi oleh GAPKI Sumut bekerjasama dengan harian Bisnis Indonesia dan didukung oleh Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (BPDPKS) untuk mendorong percepatan program Peremajaan Kelapa Sawit (PSR) di Indonesia.

Kepala Divisi Perusahaan Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (BPDPKS), Achmad Maulizal mengatakan, 251.637 ha di 21 provinsi dengan jumlah petani kebun yang terlibat mencapai 154.936 orang pada periode 2016-2024.
“Kami terus berusaha memperluas program PSR ini untuk mendorong kesejahteraan petani sawit. Ada 154.936 orang petani yang sudah mendapatkan program ini,” ujarnya.
Pemangku kepentingan perkebunan sawit nasional mendorong pemerintah untuk melanjutkan program peremajaan sawit rakyat (PSR) dengan intensitas yang lebih tinggi dari yang berlaku saat ini.
Ketua Umum DPP Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Seluruh Indonesia (Gapki), Eddy Martono mengatakan, perusahaan sawit berkomitmen membantu implementasi program PSR untuk tujuan meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat.
Menurut dia, Gapki terus berkoordinasi dengan Dirjen Perkebunan dan BPDPKS untuk mendorong memuluskan program PSR yang masih banyak terkendala sampai saat ini.

Regarding the funding of the PSR partnership program with farmers, he said, his party has its own calculation of program costs, where the value for the minimum calculation reaches IDR 100.54 million and the highest reaches IDR 112.42 million per hectare.
“We are happy that the value of PSR assistance has been increased from IDR 30 million to IDR 60 million per ha. But we have another calculation. Because the value is quite large at IDR 112.4 million, we propose the source of funds from BPDPKS and loans,” said the Ketum Gapki. ***
