Sumatera Overland Varsities English Debate (SOVED) 2022 merupakan kompetisi debat parlementer Bahasa Inggris yang paling bergengsi di Sumatera. Mahasiswa berprestasi dari sebanyak 25 Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN) dan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) seluruh Sumatera berpartisipasi dalam turnamen prestisius ini.

Pesertanya berasal dari sejumlah PTN ternama diantaranya Universitas Lampung, Universitas Riau, Universitas Negeri Padang, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Politeknik Sriwijaya, Politeknik Negeri Medan, dan masih banyak universitas lainnya.
Institut Bisnis IT&B mengirimkan 2 tim perwakilan untuk bersaing di ajang debat Bahasa Inggris tersebut. “Sangat membanggakan karena kedua tim yang dikirimkan semuanya berhasil menorehkan prestasi, yaitu IB IT&B A sebagai Runner-Up 1 yang diwakilkan oleh Nico Fernando Tan dan Clara Jesica, sedangkan IB IT&B B sebagai Runner-Up 2 yang diwakilkan oleh James Rivaldo dan Stefanie Chuianda,” kata Rektor IB IT&B, Prof. Ir. Tak hanya itu, mereka (tim debat Institut Bisnis IT&B) juga sukses meraih prestasi individu sebagai pembicara terbaik dalam ajang tersebut. Yaitu, Clara Jesica sebagai Overall Best Speaker, Stefanie Chuianda sebagai 3rd Best Speaker, Nico Fernando Tan dan James Rivaldo sebagai Co-4th Best Speaker SOVED 2022.
Prestasi mahasiswa IB IT&B ini diraih berdasarkan beberapa indikator penilaian, diantaranya kemampuan critical thinking; public speaking; dan pengetahuan luas.

Sebelum kompetisi, para mahasiswa Institut Bisnis IT&B telah mendedikasikan banyak waktu untuk memahami isu-isu yang sedang terjadi di dunia sebagai persiapan.
“Tentunya prestasi ini dipersembahkan sepenuhnya kepada Institut Bisnis IT&B yang telah mewadahi segala pelatihan, support, dan fasilitas yang mumpuni, sehingga mahasiswa dapat terus mengasah kemampuan secara kritis,” sebutnya.
Sementara itu, Managing Director Institut Bisnis IT&B, Dr Agus Susanto Tan mengucapkan selamat atas prestasi yang berhasil diraih oleh mahasiswa Institut Bisnis IT&B.
